donut muffins

This Pinterest muffins recipe is a bunch of goodness all packed into one muffin. I mean, who doesn’t like donuts…or muffins? How about some Cinnamon-Sugar Old Fashioned Donut Muffins? Sold!

These freeze beautifully, so eat some and save some for later! (That’s if you have any left…) :)

Ingredients in Muffins:

1 & 3/4 Cups Flour

1 & 1/2 Teaspoons Baking Powder

1/2 Teaspoon Salt

1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon

1/2 Teaspoon Nutmeg

1/3 Cup Oil

3/4 Cup Granulated Sugar

1 Egg

3/4 Cup Milk

Cinnamon Sugar Topping:

1/4 Cup Butter, Melted (4 tablespoons)

1/3 Cup Granulated Sugar

1 Tablespoon Cinnamon

Let’s get started!

Preheat your oven to 350°.

Whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Then in a separate bowl mix together the sugar, oil, eggs and milk.

Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients just until combined.

Then spray a muffin pan with non-stick spray and pour the batter in equal parts.

Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes. It depends on your oven. Mine tends to cook things fast and I took them out at 15 minutes.

They come out smelling warm and cinnamon-y. They are however still “naked” and need a nice coating of butter and cinnamon-sugar.

Melt the butter in a bowl, then mix the cinnamon sugar in a separate bowl. Using a butter knife, loosen up the warm muffins and pop them out of the muffin pan. Then complete their goodness by rolling them around in the butter and then rolling them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

Perfection! I’m glad I made 12 of these muffins because my husband and son really enjoyed them as well. Enjoy!

I’ve made these before and they’re soo good! I love recipes that don’t call for crazy ingredients so you just might have them all on hand.

These were so good! Next time I would only put in 1/4 tsp of nutmeg though. A little too strong for my liking, but yummy!!

Just made these a few minutes ago. Inside is a little dense and not quite a flavorful as outside but my husband loved them.

Brr…. it’s a cold night and I am going to make these for the morning. The weather is in the single digits and my boys’ schools are to have a delay in the morning. This will be a perfect treat for them!

I liked these. I would probably leave out the nutmeg next time. Or make it 1/4 teaspoons, because the flavor seemed to be a little to strong for me but my daughter enjoyed them and they’re quick and easy to make with ingredients all at hand.

Just made these. They looked, smelled and tasted good but, like another responder, they were a little too dense for my liking. They were actually better when cool/cold versus straight from the oven which is how we usually enjoy our breakfast muffins. I’ll tweak next time. Thanks for sharing!

I’m not sure what in the world I did wrong but these did not turn out for me!! And I’m normally pretty good at baking things!! Maybe it’s the almond milk I used instead of regular milk? I wouldn’t think that would matter too much though
