Sensory Play: How To Make Goopy Slime

Goopy Slime

What is Goopy Slime? Well, it is a goopy and slimy substance that your child will enjoy playing with. Goopy Slime is great for sensory play. It can get very messy, but the messier the better right? :) Who would have thought that there could have been such a fun use for cornstarch and water? We called ours Goopy Slime, but it also known as Goop, Cornstarch Goo, Oobleck, etc.

Goopy Slime Recipe:

-Cornstarch (I just had a small box of Argo Cornstarch, but it worked just fine)

-Water

-Washable Kid’s Paint (Optional)

-Blanket (Optional)

-Measuring Cups and Spoons (Optional)

-Cars, Toys (Optional)

-Play Clothes/Swim Trunks (Optional, but Recommended)

That’s it! Just add cornstarch to a plastic bin (or whatever you can find), then slowly add water until you get your desired consistency. I used about 2 cups of cornstarch, it was plenty for me to test out how much he liked it. Next time I think we will do things on a bigger scale, maybe a whole box.  It will end up feeling wet, slimy and slippery. We also added a little bit of blue washable kid’s paint. Just simply mix it all together with your hands.

He had fun scooping and pouring the goopy slime and driving around his little cars in it.

One of his favorite things to do was let the goopy slime dribble onto his legs. He liked squishing it with his hands and just watching it drop. He did this for quite awhile.

Then he thought since he liked dumping it on his legs so much, that he would take a short-cut and sit in the Goopy Slime instead. :)

Sitting in it was quickly followed by jumping in the Goopy Slime. Which he loved!

Making Goopy Slime was a lot of fun and something we will incorporate into outside playtime often. It was super easy to make and clean-up was a cinch by simply hosing off the patio. I hope you enjoy making Goopy Slime with your little one too!

Yay for using washable paint! The first time I did this I used food coloring, and that stuff stains! I learned my lesson :)

Looks like your son had a blast!
